City Starts 2009-11 Goal Setting and Budget Process
In June 2009, the Council will approve a two-year budget for
2009-11. In San Luis Obispo, this is much more than a
"numbers" document: the budget determines the City's priorities and
sets our course for the next two years. For this reason, the
central question facing us in both good times and bas is: What
are the most important things for the City to accomplish over the
next two years? And with the very tough fiscal outlook
facing the City, which would be much worse without Measure Y
revenues, it's an especially important question this budget season.

years.
Council Provides Direction to Reduce Size
of Proposed Senior Center Parking Lot in Mitchell Park
During the City Council meeting of December 2, 2008, a Council
majority directed staff to negotiate changes to the design of the
Senior Center Parking Lot in Mitchell Park to make it smaller.
A final decision on this alternative, smaller lot will be made by
the City Council on January 6, 2009. A new cost estimate will be
considered on that date as well. The staff report for the January 6,
2009, meeting will be available on-line by December 31, 2008. In the meantime, citizens can compare the original
lot design with the proposed smaller layout by clicking on the links
