City Council Rescinds Local Drought Emergency

Post Date:06/21/2017 4:41 PM

On June 20, 2017 the San Luis Obispo City Council voted 5-0 to rescind the local drought emergency and associated water use restrictions. As we emerge from the current drought we would like to thank the community for their incredible efforts in conserving water over the past few years. Amazingly, the community reduced annual potable water use by over 20% since 2013.

While the current drought has ended locally, we know that this isn't the last drought that the City will face. Investments in water conservation today will ensure that our community is better prepared to face future periods of drought. Thank you all for the efforts, sacrifices, and patience displayed through the worst drought in California's recorded history. We look forward to continuing the City's long track record of water conservation and responsible management of our resources for many years to come.

A full list of the City's water conservation regulations can be viewed in section 13.07 of the City's Municipal Code.
