Laurel Lane Road Diet Community Meeting

Post Date:09/13/2017 10:49 AM

Laurel Lane has been approved for a “Road Diet” to improve safety for all users. As part of the 2015 Traffic Safety Report Laurel Lane between Johnson & Orcutt was identified as a high collision rate segment. On October 18th 2016 the Council approved a “Road Diet” concept. A Road Diet consists of measures such as reducing the number of travel lanes, increasing the size of the bike lanes, and adding a bike buffer as shown in the graphics below. These changes often reduce speeds, enhance multi-modal options, and improve safety.

The public is encouraged to attend an upcoming community meeting on Wednesday September 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at 1050 Southwood Drive. The meeting will be an opportunity for City staff to discuss the concept and gain feedback from the public to guide development of the corridor and intersection designs.

For further information or if you cannot attend the meeting, please contact Transportation Planner/Engineer, Jennifer Rice at 805-781-7058 or
