General Municipal Election
Tuesday, November 4, 2008

The Nomination Period for the City’s General Municipal election will open on July 14, 2008.  The following seats will be on the ballot

  • Mayor – two-year term

  • Council Members – two, each with a four-year term

Registered voters who have been residents of the City of San Luis Obispo for at least 30 days prior to the election may run for office.  (Voter registration may be confirmed by contacting the Registrar of Voters Office at 781-5228.)

If you are interested in running for office and want to establish a campaign committee prior to the nomination period, please contact City Clerk Audrey Hooper at 781-7100 or via e-mail at ahooper@slocity.org.

The City Clerk’s Office will hold a Candidate Information Meeting on July 10, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. in the City Council Hearing Room at City Hall – 990 Palm Street.  If you are interested in running for office or serving as a campaign manager or treasurer, you are invited to attend this meeting.  If you are unable to attend, but are interested in running for office, please contact City Clerk Audrey Hooper as indicated above.

Ballot Measure

Measure E-08 will be included on the ballot for the November 4, 2008, Election.  This measure proposes technical, non-substantive revisions to the Charter of the City of San Luis Obispo.
