However, a vibrant economy depends on the health of its community, including its social and physical environment. San Luis Obispo enjoys a superior quality of life by investing heavily in its economic, social, and environmental health.

Economic development is the responsibility of both the public and private sector. Successful economic development is a community-wide effort by all stakeholders in San Luis Obispo government, business, and community organizations.
