City Adopts 2009-11 Financial Plan
On June 16, 2009, the Council approved a two-year budget for 2009-11. In San Luis Obispo, this is much more than a "numbers" document: the budget determines the City's priorities and sets our course for the next two years. For this reason, the central question facing us in both good times and bad is: What are the most important things for the City to accomplish over the next two years? And with the very tough fiscal outlook facing the City, which would be much worse without Measure Y revenues, it's an especially important question this budget season.

Click here for more information about the goal-setting and budget process, including the Preliminary 2009-11 Financial Plan, results of the Council's strategic budget direction, Council Goals for 2009-11, detailed background information about the Community Forum that was held on January 15, 2009, the Council Goal Setting Workshop on January 31, 2009 and the Five Year General Fund Fiscal Forecast.

Draft Stormwater Ordinance
The City, in accordance with Federal and State regulations, has developed a draft Stormwater Ordinance. The ordinance details regulations that prohibit discharge of any type of pollutant from entering the City's stormwater conveyance system.  The ordinance also provides Best Management Practices to be used to alleviate potential sources of water pollution. Even seemingly innocuous things, such as treated drinking water can adversely affect the fragile ecosystems that occupy our local creeks, lakes and oceans. Working together we can protect the unique features and qualities of our environment that makes our City a very special place to live, work and play in. We appreciate your input and comments, so please review the draft Stormwater Ordinance and comment or contact the City Engineer at 805-781-7191.

Saving Yesterday for Tomorrow:
Community Historic Records Preservation Project

As one of California's oldest settlements, San Luis Obispo has a rich and varied history.  Stored in the City vault are the City's earliest minutes, ordinances, resolutions, land applications, letters, and library minutes dating back 150 years.  All are in danger of deterio-
ration and will eventually be lost without the help of our community.  Groups or individuals are strongly urged to consider making a donation to the Preserving the Past for Tomorrow project.  For further information about this unique project, please contact the City Clerk's Office at 781-7104.
