Media Advisory: Ribbon Cutting Celebration Tomorrow

The community will be celebrating the completion of several pedestrian crossing improvements in the City of San Luis Obispo.

You're invited to the Pedestrian Crossing Improvements Ribbon Cutting Celebration on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 3:30 p.m. at the King and South streets intersection.

 What:  A ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of four pedestrian crossing improvements. 
 Who:  Community members and City officials, including Vice Mayor Jan Marx, City Manager Derek Johnson, and Public Works Director Matt Horn who will make remarks before a ribbon cutting and ceremonial walk across the new pedestrian crossing. 
 When:  

Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 3:30 to 4 p.m.

 Where: South and King Street Intersection (North leg)
 Why:  The City is focused on making San Luis Obispo a safer, more walkable community and has recently added pedestrian and bicycle crossings at four important intersections throughout the City of San Luis Obispo: On South Street near Meadow Park and Hathorne Elementary School, on Johnson Avenue near Sinsheimer Elementary School and Sinsheimer Park, on Broad Street near Emerson Park, and on Osos Street near Mitchell Park.
