Eat Local Bonus Launches January 2, 2024

The City of San Luis Obispo is partnering with the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce for the second year in a row on the Eat Local Bonus program. This support local incentive rewards consumers who dine or drink locally during the month of January. Local dining and beverage establishments have the opportunity to participate in the program by completing this form. 

This program funded by the City of SLO puts money directly into business owners' pockets through the purchase of gift cards. Those gift cards are then given to consumers who turn in receipts totaling $100 or more spent on food and drink from local eateries, breweries, coffee shops, cafes and wineries. 

Eat Local Bonus will run from January 2 to January 31, 2024, while supplies last. New this year is SLO Restaurant Week, January 12-21, where diners have the opportunity to experience 10 delicious days of "Perfect Pairings" and the chance to win an incredible grand prize!

For Diners: 

This is your chance to be rewarded for spending your dollars locally. Starting January 2, 2024, spend $100 or more on food or beverages at any restaurant, coffee shop, tasting room or café in the City of SLO and receive a $25 gift card to another local business!

1. Dine Locally! 

Spend $100 or more at local food or beverage businesses in the City of San Luis Obispo on or after January 2, 2024. 

1. Receipts must be readable and itemized. Date, name of the business, and the full total must be included.

2. Receipts may be cumulative but can only be redeemed January 2-31, 2024. 

Taxes, delivery fees, and gratuity are not eligible for the purchase total.

2. Bring your receipt(s) to the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center by 4 PM on January 31, 2024:

If you can’t make it in person, please email the receipts to SUPPORTSLO@SLOCITY.ORG by 4 PM on January 31, 2024. Please allow 3-5 business days for a response. Your entry will be counted in the order it was received. 

3. Get your gift card! All gift cards must be picked up in person from the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center by January 31, 2024.  

Eat Local Bonus will continue until funds are exhausted. Patrons are allowed to qualify up to three separate times to receive a $25 gift card. Other rules and restrictions may apply.

Please note: Business must be located within San Luis Obispo city limits to qualify for receipt qualification from diners and for Business Buy-In participation. The following business types do not meet the requirements for receipt qualification or Business Buy-In: retail; big box stores; convenience + drug stores; grocery/supermarket; lodging; fueling or gas stations.

If you are a local restaurant, coffee shop, tasting room or café in the city of SLO, you can apply to supply gift cards for the program. If approved, we will purchase $625 in gift cards from you to be handed out to qualified patrons through this program. Space is limited.  

To qualify for this program, the business must: 

• be a local dining or beverage establishment in the City of SLO  

• hold a current San Luis Obispo city business license  

• have a physical location or storefront within city limits  

• have the ability to sell and redeem gift cards/certificates
