The Welcome Home Village is an 80-unit supportive housing community to be located in San Luis Obispo near the intersection of South Higuera Street and Prado Road. The Welcome Home Village is the final phase of the Bob Jones Bike Trail Encampment Resolution Project.
The community is invited to join the County on August 30th at 6:00pm to 7:30pm in the Board Chambers of the Katcho Achadjian Government Center to learn more about this exciting project, meet the people and service providers behind the effort, and ask questions about different aspects of the project.
The primary objectives of the Welcome Home Village are as follows:
- To provide a path back to housing for those that are currently living unsheltered in the Bob Jones Bike Trail encampment corridor
- Reduce the burden of homelessness on the surrounding neighborhoods and businesses
- Improve response capacity for service providers and outreach teams
In addition to the Welcome Home Village, the Bob Jones Bike Trail Encampment Resolution Project will also focus on trash and debris removal from the San Luis Creek riparian area, the installation of portable restrooms and bear-proof trash receptacles along the San Luis Obispo portion of the Bob Jones Bike Trail, and expand outreach and engagement to those living in and around the Bob Jones Bike Trail encampment corridor.
Flyers for the event are available to download in English and Spanish.
All interested parties are encouraged to submit their comments and questions through the form below by 5:00pm on Tuesday, August 29th.
