ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS AND AFFORDABLE SERVICES

Broadband for All (California)
Home internet service is critical for all individuals. The cost of internet remains a barrier for many people. California For All has partnered with EveryoneOn* and the California Emerging Technology Fund to help you find programs in your area. Simply go to the website, enter your ZIP code and select the conditions that apply to your household. If there are affordable connectivity programs, low-cost internet service, computer offers, or digital skills training (like computer or internet basics skills) available to you, they will appear on the page provided. See if there are programs for you at https://broadbandforall.cdt.ca.gov/affordable-service-programs.

IMPROVING BROADBAND IN SLO

On June 20, 2023, City Council adopted San Luis Obispo’s first ever Broadband Plan to make broadband internet more accessible and affordable for residents and businesses in San Luis Obispo.

The 108-page plan focuses on how the City can transform existing infrastructure to support fiber optic networks that can allow internet service providers to offer high-speed, low-latency connectivity in SLO.

The City of San Luis Obispo developed this Citywide Broadband Plan to guide the creation of reliable and cost-effective, next-generation broadband for community members. While the City of San Luis Obispo does not directly provide broadband services to the community, the City can explore using existing public assets and facilities to both improve broadband services for residents and businesses and potentially generate new revenues to support City services through innovative public-private partnerships.
