Every year the third full week in May has been designated as National Public Works Week by the American Public Works Association to celebrate the accomplishments of the men and women of North America involved in this diverse and varied industry. This year's theme "Community Begins Here" speaks to the essential nature of Public Works services in support of everyday quality of life. The City of San Luis Obispo's Public Works and Utilities Departments set aside time to celebrate success within the departments and with other agencies in the area. One of the public events planned is the showcasing of our local Central Coast Public Works agencies at the SLO Farmers Market on Thursday May 21, 2015. The City of San Luis Obispo is hosting the event which will include handouts, displays and equipment demonstrations by Public Works staff and other local agencies from around the County of San Luis Obispo.
