What is HouseKeys?

HouseKeys is a third-party Program Administrator for the City of San Luis Obispo for the affordable housing policies and programs. They work with residential developers who have affordable housing commitments for both ownership and rental units and assist with the sale or lease agreement completion of those units. HouseKeys administers affordable units to ensure that the units are marketed to the community in a fair and equitable way, and to make sure those units are occupied by eligible households. Please see the links and information below to learn more about what HouseKeys does and how they are improving the City’s administration of affordable housing units.

If you would like to register an account with HouseKeys to receive notifications about future affordable housing units for purchase or rent, follow the links below. Please be aware that the City of San Luis Obispo does not own or manage affordable units. Contact HouseKeys  for information on properties for sale or rent. The City does not keep a list of units for sale.  

1. Check the City's Affordable Housing Standards to determine if you meet the income limitations for the unit's affordability level.
2. Register and create an account through HouseKeys webpage and review the instructions on how to register through the links provided below before starting.
3. Look out for notifications of available units and apply for specific units that match your income level and preferences as they become available
4. If selected, HouseKeys will contact you to continue through the process so that you may move into your new home!
