We are a full service fire department offering fire suppression, specialty rescue, hazardous materials mitigation, and paramedic advanced life support. Approximately 60% of all SLO City Fire emergency responders are cross-trained as Paramedics. Medical emergencies account for approximately 3/4 of our emergency response incidents. Our firefighter-paramedics are trained for virtually any medical emergency they encounter. They provide cardiac care to chest pain patients using the latest in 12-lead EKG technology and carry 26 emergency medications to treat a broad range of chronic and acute medical emergencies.
