Home MenuStorm Recovery
The City of San Luis Obispo is beginning to assess damage related to the recent barrage of winter storms to our community. We can’t always prevent flooding, especially when the region sees a storm of this magnitude, but we use every resource at our disposal to protect lives and limit damage. Community members are encouraged to use the following information as they begin their own assessments of damage and begin recovering from the storms.

How to Help
To help by volunteering, log on to www.VolunteerSLO.org or www.emergencyslo.org. If you would like to donate money, please consider donating to the SLO County Disaster Support Fund, activated by The Community Foundation of SLO County.
Storm Damage Information
As the City concurrently continues storm response and monitoring, staff also are beginning to assess initial damage costs as a result of the storm and storm response efforts.
The preliminary damage assessment process is a mechanism used to determine the impact and magnitude of damage and resulting needs of individuals, businesses, public sector, and community as a whole. Information collected is used by the State as a basis for the Governor’s request for a major disaster or emergency declaration, and by the President in determining a response to the Governor’s request at the federal level.
As the community begins the recovery phase, City staff will be working on these efforts and gathering information for cost recovery.
