Preserving & Restoring Cheng Park
This park project will be restoring current artifacts and elements that honor Chinese Culture as conceived by the park’s original designer and significant donor, Alice Loh. Once complete, community members will be able to once again enjoy this park's unique characteristics including art imported from China.
Planning for the restoration of Cheng Park was done so with the guidance of Alice Loh to help renovate the park up to its original standards. Our goal is to honor San Luis Obispo’s history with Chinese culture that dates back to the 1870s.
Project Features
The water pond and pagoda will be restored, and the park will have enhanced landscape and irrigation systems. Solar lighting and ADA-accessible items, like handrails on the park’s gazebo, will also be added.
