The City of San Luis Obispo is full of hidden hiking gems. We want you to get out of your routine and try a new hike (or seven). To entice you, if you are up to it, a commemorative prize is in store for those who complete the #PixOnPeaks challenge!
Round 3.0 (Future)
Win this bandana if you hike the designated trails throughout Irish Hills! More details on this upcoming challenge in the near future.
Round 2.0 (Complete)
The Challenge:
Seven “peaks” have been designated by the Open Space Team as spotsto take an Instagram photo.
Step 1: Take a selfie or group photo
Step 2: Tag your photo with the hashtag #PixOnPeaks, as well as the hashtag for the particular location where the photo was taken (see photos below for where to take your Pix and what hashtags to use).
Step 3: Come into Parks and Recreation, 1341 Nipomo Street, to receive your hat. Be sure to bring your phone or camera with all seven photos, especially if you don’t use Instagram.

Open Space Regulations
Don’t forget the City has several Open Space regulations to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our local natural preserves for all. Please be mindful of the following:
- Open Space access is permitted from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset ONLY.
- Stay on designated trails.
- Dogs must be on leash.
- Pick up after your dog.
- Pack it in, Pack it out.
