AB 953, the Racial and Identity Profiling Act (RIPA) was adopted by the State of California in 2015. This law prohibits racial and identity profiling by law enforcement, requires law enforcement agencies to report data to the Attorney General's Office on a) all vehicle and pedestrian stops and b) citizen complaints alleging racial and identity profiling, established the Racial and Identity Profiling Advisory Board and provides data, best practice recommendations for community advocates, organizations, law enforcement and policymakers to collectively advance the goals of RIPA.
