Traffic Engineering
- Recommends and designs improvements to traffic signals;
- Maintains vehicle speed zones consistent with the California Vehicle Code;
- Conducts traffic counts, speed surveys and reviewing accident reports;
- Analyzes the performance of all transportation modes within the traffic circulation system;
- Manages the City's Vision Zero Program and analyzes traffic collisions within the City limits in the Annual Traffic Safety Report;
- Reviews building and development project plans to ensure accommodation of the additional traffic generated and guides the traffic impact study process.
Transportation Planning
- Prepares and maintains the General Plan Circulation Element;
- Promotes active transportation through bicycle and pedestrian planning efforts;
- Provides staff support for the Active Transportation Committee.
