Project Plans 

The 2025 paving project includes repaving of roads, adding accessible curb ramps to sidewalks, employing measures to reduce illegal speeding, and more.

This project includes improvements to the following city streets:

  • Tank Farm Road (Broad Street to Orcutt Road)
  • Orcutt Road (Tank Farm Road to City/County Line)
  • Sacramento Drive (Industrial Road to Via Esteban)
  • Calle Joaquin (Motel 6 to City/County Line)

Project Details 

The project will include pavement rehabilitation, ADA upgrades to pedestrian curb ramps, and bicycle and pedestrian improvements for different streets as identified in the City’s Active Transportation Plan and Vision Zero Program

Project construction is expected to begin summer of 2025 and take several weeks to complete each road segment.  Specific project objectives include: 

  • Repair potholes and reconstruct roadway pavement to provide a smooth surface for driving, using transit, bicycling, and walking across the street.
  • Pursue strategies to reduce illegal speeding on Sacramento Drive and Tank Farm Road.
  • Enhance visibility and safety for pedestrians crossing Tank Farm Road.
  • Increase visibility and separation between bicycles and higher-speed motor vehicle traffic on Sacramento Drive and Tank Farm Road.

A preliminary draft of the detailed project plans will be uploaded here by November 15, 2024.

  • Are any major sidewalk improvements and/or pedestrian lighting included in this project?
  • Are the design plans final?
  • Does the project reduce any vehicle travel lanes? If so, why?
  • The current engineering plans are preliminary and still require further analysis and design. Further analysis is needed to guide final designs includes assessment of utility conflicts, truck turning templates for emergency vehicle and transit access, and ADA compliance. 
  • What improvements does this project include for drivers?
  • When will construction begin for the transportation and mobility project improvements?
  • Will the project include any improvements on Sacramento near the roadway curve south of Orcutt Road?
