In 1994, the City joined the San Luis Obispo County Integrated Waste Management Authority (IWMA), along with all other municipalities within the County. The IWMA is tasked with the regional implementation and related public outreach activities of the bulk of waste and recycling legislatively mandated programs on behalf of its member agencies.
