City of San Luis Obispo water customers can now receive a rebate for upgrading to more water-efficient devices. The City of San Luis Obispo Water Conservation Rebate Program is designed to reduce water use City-wide by including rebates for all account types.

The new incentive program is a part of the City’s efforts to help the entire community be more efficient with water use by equitably offering rebates across single-family residential, multi-family residential, and commercial, industrial, and institutional (CII) account holders, ensuring the program does not favor one customer class.

The City of San Luis Obispo Water Conservation Rebate Program offers rebates for eligible items purchased on or after January 1, 2023. Funding has been allocated for Fiscal Years 2022 – 2023, and rebates will be offered until funding is exhausted.

For details on the qualifications and requirements for each rebate device, please refer to the table at the bottom of this page.

High-Efficiency Toilets
Small Landscape Smart Irrigation Controllers
Large Landscape Smart Irrigation Controllers
High-Efficiency Urinals
Water-Efficient Restaurant Dipper Wells
  • Traditional dipper wells utilize a large amount of water due to the use of a perpetual flow of water. Updating to a water-efficient dipper is estimated to save up to 250,000 gallons of water a year. This would save your business over $3,000 on water each year and pay for the device within just 2 months.

  • The avg irrigation “zone” uses 15 GPM. Studies show using a smart irrigation controller, instead of a traditional controller, can save 30% more water! That means a landscape with 24 zones running for just 10 minutes 3 times a week, could save over $2,000 on water bills each year by installing a smart controller.
