The City Provides Grant Funding through the Following Programs:
Affordable Housing Grants and Loans
From Community Development Block Grants to Affordable Housing Fund grants, the City offers and administers several housing grants and loan programs to help facilitate the production of more affordable housing in SLO.
Cultural Arts & Community Promotions (CACP) - Promotional Coordinating Committee
The City of San Luis Obispo recognizes that cultural, social and recreational organizations make significant contributions to the overall quality of life in the City of San Luis Obispo. To support such organizations, the City is offering a Cultural Arts & Community Promotions grant program (formerly Cultural GIA) to award competitive grants for the marketing and advertising costs related to the promotion of eligible activities and events in San Luis Obispo.
Direct Support for Family Child Care Start-Ups - Economic Development
To support the local economy and local businesses, the City has partnered with CAPSLO to increase the number of child care options in the City of SLO. Individuals and organizations can apply for up to $5,000 in grant funding provided by the City to start new child care businesses within city limits. The funds can be used to eliminate barriers to obtaining a license and accelerate the creation of quality child care slots in SLO.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Grants
The purpose of this funding is to support local projects or programs that contribute to creating a San Luis Obispo that is welcoming, inclusive, equitable and safe.

The City of SLO is offering up to $150,000 in grant opportunities to nonprofit organizations for programs that advance DEI in San Luis Obispo. Deadline to apply is Aug. 30, 2024.

$5.5 Million in Homelessness Solution Funding Available from County of San Luis Obispo
The County is looking to fund activities that address homelessness and housing insecurity in San Luis Obispo County such as street outreach, emergency shelter operations, case management services, and permanent housing solutions. Applications are due by 9:00PM on March 1, 2024.
